For years our customers have requested this absolute, however, a Carnation Absolute that meets our high standards had eluded us; until now. We tried many samples but none moved our senses because of heavy clove notes that overpowered floral notes. This was most likely caused by adulterated samples containing eugenol; clove bud absolute and essential oil contain a high amount of eugenol, thus why samples we tried had too strong of clove-like notes.
Our Carnation Absolute, sourced from Egypt and produced from organic grown all pink colored Dianthus caryophyllus L. flowers, has all the aromatic qualities expected; slightly spicy and herbaceous, with high warm floral and sweet honey notes that is very tenacious. While there are still clove-like notes, that all carnation absolutes should have, they are much more in the background than the foreground in this exquisite specimen of carnation. There are many carnation absolutes; we know from trying a vast number of samples; however, this Carnation Absolute represents everything we sought. You simply will not be disappointed because this is an extraordinary specimen.
Exhibiting beautiful floral notes that become much more apparent after dilution, this absolute should be diluted to appreciate all it has to offer. According to the author of Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin, Steffen Arctander, "Carnation is...viscous liquid of very sweet, honeylike, somewhat herbaceous, heavy and tenacious fragrance, reminiscent of the odor of the live flowers only to a certain degree and only in high dilutions (5% or weaker)."
Carnation Absolute is treasured by perfumers for adding warm spicy floral nuances into floral fragrances. While this absolute is not used in aromatherapy there are some aromatherapy experts that say it can be used to comfort and gives feelings of joy, both of which are useful with conditions of anxiety.
