Foraha oil, also known as Tamanu oil, is a natural oil extracted from the cold-pressed nut kernels of the Calophyllum inophyllum tree. It is available in three different forms: unfiltered, filtered, and double-filtered. The unfiltered version is the thickest of the three and contains more natural vegetable particles, while the filtered version has a slightly thinner consistency and is easier to work with when formulating. Some people believe that filtering removes some of the natural elements, but both types have their own benefits.
This extraordinary oil has been used for centuries in the South Pacific and Madagascar for its remarkable ability to help heal damaged skin and regenerate skin cells. It is particularly helpful with burns, scars, and slow-healing wounds, as it promotes rapid healing and has germicidal qualities that help eliminate and prevent infection.
Foraha oil is an excellent emollient and absorbs quickly, leaving no oily residue. It has a pleasant creamy, nutty smell that is reminiscent of butter pecan ice cream. This makes it an ideal base oil for use in mature skin care blends, as it has exceptional skincare abilities, including being helpful with its skin cell regeneration qualities, and quick absorption.
When blended with Ravensara aromatica, it is highly recommended for conditions such as shingles, psoriasis, and eczema. When blended with Chamomile Blue (German) or Chamomile Roman, it is recommended for addressing rosacea.
In summary, Foraha oil is an exceptional natural oil that is versatile and has a wide array of dermatological benefits. It is an excellent addition to any skincare routine, and its unique properties make it a valuable ingredient in various formulations.
How Foraha oil is made: The Caliphyllum tree bears fruit twice per year. It is collected and spread on racks to dry cure for 6-8 weeks until the outer hull has changed from green to dark brown. There is no oil present in fresh fruit (nuts) and is only present after drying. The outer shell is then cracked open to remove the oil rich kernel and cold pressed.
Contraindications: Nut Allergy - This filtered Foraha oil is not recommend for those with a tree nut allergy as this oil may still contain nut allergens after filtration.
