This specimen of Hops CO2 is a unique pure extraction of only the Humulus lupulus flower. Additionally, it has not been mixed with other base oils to dilute its concentration. Our GC/MS analysis confirm that this extraction of Hops flower oil is 100% pure, and has not been standardized. As such, it is commonplace to find Hops CO2 oil that has been diluted in other carrier oils, such as sunflower oil, in order to lower the cost as well as the price for consumers. Since our audience are those who request and specify to have only the most potent artisan extractions on earth, we could not pass up this opportunity to offer this 100% pure extraction of Hops CO2 flower oil.
The aroma of Hops is usually strong and pungent, but since this a CO2 select extraction, the garlicky pungent notes are softened and rounded out with clear and crisp green top notes. The middle herbaceous notes are freshened with lively citrus and a valerian-like back note. Fragrance connoisseurs will appreciate a sweet, fruity melon back note as well. In perfumery, Hops offers a bitter-green note that adds a unique dimension of uplifting brightness in pine, fougere, citrus (particularly lime), and aldehydic perfume bases, so says Steffan Arctander. Because Hops is aromatically strong it should always be used in extremely low dilution (approx 1 drop per 30mL), in order to fully appreciate its distinctive aroma.
In aromatherapy, Hops oils are noted as antimicrobial, astringent, calmative, carminative, emollient, nervine, soporific, and spasmolytic with therapeutic uses for neuralgia, bruising, analgesic, menstrual problems, menopausal symptoms, insomnia, coughs, stress-related asthma, stress-related digestive conditions, nervousness, stress, and tension.
Hops is also known for its sedative qualities, and thus hops-containing pillows are currently sold across the world as a sleep aid. As an alternative, a pillow spray containing a few drops of Hops Co2 may just be the answer to help calm, relax, and alleviate insomnia; trying blending with
Valerian or
Chamomile Roman for a marvelous sleep aid blend.
Because Hops is highly microbial it makes an ideal ingredient for natural deodorants. Additionally, although some sources reference this oil having estrogenic properties, according to Tisserand "although the plant contains estrogenic substances (Bradley 1992), no evidence could be found either for their presence in the essential oil, or for a hormone-like activity in the oil." For this reason we have not included estrogenic in the list of aromatherapy uses or benefits. This may be a subject of debate, but until verifiable data is published we lean to the writings of Tisserand.
If you are unfamiliar with Hops we recommend purchasing a small sample size prior to opting for a larger size to familiarize yourself with the valerian-esque notes of this CO2 extract.
