Experience the exceptional quality of Oakmoss Absolute Hexane Free, also known as "Mousse de Chêne" in French, that is direct from Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. This exquisite absolute is IFRA-compliant and is a must-have for perfume artisans as it brings an exquisite depth of character to accords and is incredibly tenacious. It can be used as a superb base note fixative in masculine blends or for rounding out floral notes. It has a rich, deep aroma that is unparalleled, and we recommend starting with 1% and adjusting upward in minute amounts to achieve the perfect scent.
The lichen Evernia prunastri is the primary ingredient used to create this Oakmoss Absolute. It grows on oak and some pine trees, predominantly in the mountainous regions of Morocco and some Balkan countries. The lichen used for this absolute is wild-collected in Morocco, dried, and then sent to France for hexane-free extraction, ensuring that the purest form of Oakmoss Absolute is obtained.
It is vital to note that you should beware of Oakmoss absolute that is not IFRA compliant. These absolutes are usually less expensive, but they are high in Atranol and/or Chloroatranol (>100ppm), which can cause allergic reactions and skin irritations. Hence, they are not recommended for use in perfumes or products intended for skin use. We only offer IFRA-compliant Oakmoss Absolute that is safe to use on the skin. The most premium specimens will also be hexane-free solvent extracted, ensuring the product's purity and quality.
