Our Sandalwood Australian essential oil is of premium quality and is sourced from the sustainable cultivation of Santalum spicatum heartwood in Western Australia. This species of Sandalwood shares a similar aroma to Sandalwood Mysore, however, the two should not be considered aromatic substitutes. Instead, Santalum spicatum is a cost-effective alternative that boasts notes of buttered wood and a balsamic, slightly sweet scent profile that is unmistakably of sandalwood origin. As with all Sandalwood oils, this Santalum spicatum oil deepens in aroma as it ages.
Sandalwood spicatum is highly regarded in skin care for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. It is said to be even more effective than Tea Tree oil for acne skin care. This specific Sandalwood species is high in a chemical constituent known as Farnesol which is particularly beneficial for smoothing wrinkles, increasing skin elasticity and tissue strength, helping skin retain moisture, and normalizing the secretion of sebum. Farnesol is also responsible for promoting the regeneration of cells and activating collagen, elastin, and mucopolysaccharide synthesis in the dermis.
To dilute this essential oil for facial application, we recommend using our Sandalwood Seed Co2 carrier oil, which is sourced from the nut/seed of Sandalwood album. This carrier oil serves as the perfect base oil and complements the aromatic and therapeutic properties of our Sandalwood oil.
